Questions about the Renaissance Scholarship process:

If you haven't yet received an invitation to apply for the Renaissance Scholarship, does that mean you aren't being considered for it?

What does the application involve besides an interview?

How many are invited to apply?

Any info appreciated. Thank you.

They select you, you don't apply. It's offered to 1% of their applicants based on your total app

Well, I'm fairly sure that all 50 Renaissance candidates have been chosen. I am one of the candidates, and my acceptance and scholarship candidacy said that I was 1 of 50. Considering that the scholars get interviewed in late March, I'm fairly confident in my deduction. Hope this helps.

Does anyone know what percentage of finalists eventually do receive the award? I received my letter only two nights ago (even though it was sent out FedEx Overnight two weeks ago-go figure).

hmm... did you get a special letter about the Renaissance thing? and would you be notified if you already had a scholarship interview? I thought i would be in the top 1% of applicants (4.0, 2/210, 2400 SAT 800 Math 2, 800 Biology M, 770 Literature, 750 US History SAT2s) but i only got a thing about a Rush Rhees scholarship

eventer31590: there is a special letter for the Renaissance scholarship, and they go to a special weekend event for an interview. you would be notified even if you already had an inteview because the scholarship requires an additional interview. i'm pretty sure all of the finalists for the renaissance scholarship were notified already though. your stats seem pretty good, but keep in mind that rochester doesn't put much value on standardized test scores. and i'm sure they get a lot of highly qualified applicants. if rochester already informed you about the rush rhees scholarship, it doesn't look like you will be getting a different scholarship offer. congrats on the rush rhees scholarship though! that is one of the highest awards rochester gives!

Yeah, I agree with njstudent12345, especially since I am a Rush Rhees Scholar and a Renaissance scholar. I am going to interview at U/R on march 22-23, so i'm almost 100% positive that all the finalists for the Renaissance scholarship have been informed. I hope this helps
