such a great musical.

i don't know the entire musical but i know some of the songs, lovely!

Any other musicals you like?

La vie boheme!

I saw the movie, not the actual musical. But I liked it. The music is really catchy.

The show is better. I don't know if I would've liked the movie without watching the show first.

I WANT IT ON DVD AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

the musical is definitely better than the movie, but both are worth seeing.
theoneo- me too!! ahh, can't wait to buy it :)

Hmm I also like Phantom of the Opera, Les Mis, and Bombay Dreams (kinda). I used to like Cats... when I was like 8.

I rent the movie today, although I'm not a fan of musicals. I'll watch it this weekend.

I don't like Rent. Wicked is wayyyyyy better.

Ever since I watched Team America, I just keep thinking to myself:

"Everyone has AIDS!! AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS!!!"

UCLAri, i was thinking the same thing. But i love RENT the musical. it was so touching. Wicked is pretty fly too, though.

YES, PHANTOM WAS AMAZING!
I missed the op to see Rent on Broadway, but the movie was good... I would've loved it if I were into that kind of plot- a little too depressing for me.
I<3Mark oh so very much... except he's gay in real life I hear.
La Vie Boheme is the best song EVER! and Mark makes it oh so much better.
And I'm seeing Wicked on Broadway in March! Yay!
I'm a theater geek.... gotta love me :)

i saw rent on broadway and it was amazing!!
phantom is my favorite of all musicals.
les mis- saw that on wednesday in boston :)

I just saw the movie yesterday. I'm a BIG fan of movie-musicals, but I didn't like Rent very much (though a couple of songs were really good--especially One Song Glory and La Vie Boheme). It seemed repetitious in a lot of parts, though the singers were very talented, and, I understand, most were from the show. I still haven't given up on Rent, and I hope to see it on Broadway someday and give it another chance.

I liked the songs in Rent better than the actual story...Wicked is pretty awesome too...and Phantom, but the Broadway soundtrack is infinitely better than the hollywood one.

would you light my candle?

Okay, talking about Rent is just asking for it:

Everyone has AIDS!
AIDS AIDS AIDS!
AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS!
Everyone has AIDS!

And so this is the end of our story
And everyone is dead from AIDS
It took from me my best friend
My only true pal
My only bright star (he died of AIDS)

Well I'm gonna march on Washington
Lead the fight and charge the brigades
There's a hero inside of all of us
I'll make them see everyone has AIDS

My father (AIDS!)
My sister (AIDS!)
My uncle and my cousin and her best friend (AIDS AIDS AIDS!)
The gays and the straights
And the white and the spades

Everyone has AIDS!
My grandma and my dog 'ol blue (AIDS AIDS AIDS)
The pope has got it and so do you (AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS)
C'mon everybody we got quilting to do (AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS)
We gotta break down these baricades, everyone has
AIDS! x 20

I saw Rent! It was my first musical(and i've lived in NYC all my life..go figure), and I loved it!

I haven't seen the movie yet.

I never saw the musical but I am obsessed with the movie. My favorite song is I'll Cover You (Reprise)...so beautifully done.

I totally agree.

phantom of the opera is an awesome musical... great story, fantastic music, and yeah, the broadway sountrack IS infinitely better...

Some other musicals i love........

Les Miserables
Miss Saigon
Jekyll and Hyde
Notra Dame de Paris
The Scarlet Pimpernel

I'd have to say the best musicals are -->

Cabaret and Songs for a New World.

Both are beautiful, and Joel Gray is AMAZING!
