Repeated courses... T-14?

Hi everyone,

So I found out that for my school, LSDAS does not include the original grade for repeated courses in the overall GPA calculation (for almost all schools they average the two grades, but my college, Reed College, doesn't report the original grade, and so they can't).

What I'm wondering is, if I have 3 repeated courses my freshmen year, but additionally a 3.6 GPA, 173 LSAT, huge upward trend in GPA, good recs, and solid EC's (tons of research experience), what are my chances at a school like Cornell?

Close to none. Sorry.

What??

You definitely have a great shot at cornell. Hell, you have a pretty good shot at anything outside of HYS. I think if you submit apps to every school ranked 4-9, you’ll get at least one to bite(I’m guessing UChicago).

Graj is right.

Reed does get a small boost due to grade deflation maybe +.1 or so on the GPA, so while rigor does not help a ton, it will help a little.

Will it work against me at all that my major is psych? (I have taken a good deal of neuroscience specific courses, as that’s my interest and what my research has focused on, but there is no n.s. major at reed and so I fall under the psych department)

No. Psychology is a properly rigorous major. It won’t be a factor.
