Repeating 11th grade?

Hey y’all I am a current 10th grader and was unsuccessful in being accepted to a BS for next year. Would you recommend that I re-apply next year as a repeating 11th grader or should I just stick it out at my current high school for two more years?

Um it’s honestly up to you but just be warned that 11th grade acceptance is EXTREMELY extremely difficult. If you truly want he boarding school experience, repeating grade 10 is an option. However, if that is out of the question, then ask yourself if you are happy at your school. If you enjoy being at your school, and the school isn’t so bad, then staying isn’t a bad option either. At this point, the main question you should be asking yourself is if you want the boarding school experience. Good luck and hope you make the right choice!

Well in my opinion, re-applying never hurts! In terms of being a repeat, however, I think that that’s honestly up to you! I know that 11th is typically the most difficult grade to get into, so keep that in mind; but remember, reapplying can never hurt! Just make sure that you’re prepared to stick it out at your current school because it’s so difficult to get into that grade. Also: maybe consider calling your AO over at PA and politely asking why you weren’t accepted: I’ve heard of students doing this before, and I believe that it shows maturity and desire to improve. Best of luck! :)>-

My relatively hookless daughter was just accepted as a senior to a handful of quality schools. Never say never. However, I wish she would have done repeat junior and had 2 years at the BS. I know she will regret only having one.

Solely up to you. I’m finishing my Junior year now and will be redoing it at NMH next year. I wish I had more time to be at BS, but I figured 2 years was better than none.

Depending on the school Junior year admission can be tricky, but certain schools leave room for Juniors and even Seniors. I was able to get into 4/6 schools by applying for Junior year. I recommend trying to bump your test scores or speak with the schools about senior admission if you don’t want to do Junior year over again.

^^ @randomdare - Can I ask if you needed FA? Congrats on the acceptances!

If anyone knows which schools accept Seniors, please post. :o3

@sunnyschool Northfield Mount Hermon does!

Thanks for the help y’all! I will likely be re-applying as a repeat 11th grader to a handful of schools next year.

@Thomas4L NHM told us they didn’t really take seniors so we did not pursue it.

@hopetobein That would likely be because there are so few spots. NMH is one of few schools that at least allows students to apply for Senior year.

did not need FA, but half of the new juniors at my school received Merit Scholarships or some form of FA (my GPA and test scores were not high enough at that point) I currently go to Kent and we leave room for about 20 New Juniors and even took in two new seniors this year.

Exeter takes new seniors! This year we received 30 PGs and new seniors. I am not sure how many of those were new seniors (so not PGs) out of that number, but there are definitely spots for new seniors.
