This has been the only thing on my mind recently. I really cannot decide between applying as a repeat 11th grader or as a 12th grader.

I'm very open to applying as a repeat 11th grader. I know that applying to 12th grade for most schools is near impossible, and 11th grade would have a much higher chance. I know that 11th graders can get a more fulfilling experience than 12th graders, and I would LOVE more than anything, the opportunity to have two full years at boarding school instead of just one.
I am a very serious athlete, and a decent student.

But what's holding me back from this is the fact that I among the older side of my grade, and other things. I know that MANY people do a repeat year at boarding school, so this isn't my biggest issue. My biggest issue is that I'm worried about being left behind. Despite all the opportunities and advantages, I really can't imagine watching all my friends go off to college, and still being in high school myself. And then the fact that they would have finished their education and going on with their lives while I am still studying.

I feel like only one year at boarding schools would leave me with a lot of regrets and unfulfilled dreams. Especially if you explore all the opportunities that are available there. One year just seems like nothing. But my parents are strongly against me repeating a grade, because they feel like it is not only a waste of time, but they think college is more important, and that I should not waste my time in high school, while everyone else is moving ahead.
I know that there are many classes available at these schools, but still, I would be a year behind most people.

Because my parents know very little about these schools, I feel like I would be able to convince my parents to let me repeat a year, but I can't figure out how to convince myself yet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks very much!
