I took geometry in my freshman year, algebra 2 in my sophomore but I got a D in the first semester so I’m repeating it. If I take stats next year would colleges say that I’ve had three or four years of math? Because I’ve technically been doing math all four years but I only completed three “levels” I guess. I want to go to BU
It wouldn’t count twice, so the answer is three.
I’d suggest looking at this article, for people who consider themselves math-phobes. Essentially, some people need a lot more more repetition, and through repetition and memorization, they develop the same fluency in mathematics as those “good at math”. A lot of Asian cultures emphasize drill and repetition at a younger age and that’s how many Asian students do well on the Math SAT and high school math. My parents sent me to Kumon when I was younger, and it made my arithmetic skills much better. It’s still not "too late’; if you set your mind to be better at math and do a lot of drill and practice, perhaps over the school year and summer, you can catch up.
I’d suggest not repeating Algebra 2 unless you are absolutely required to. Repeating elementary mathematics classes is usually not the way to go.
