repetitious i know but chances for 2015 ED?

<p>hey, i'm new. yeah really noobish of me to say. anyway</p>

<p>classes
freshman year - honors everything: physics, american cultures, algebra I, english, info of tech 9
sophomore - honors everything: geometry, english, american cultures II, health, biology, spanish 3, info of tech 10
junior - honors everything again. one AP: algebra II, AP spanish, chemistry, english, integrated science, government
senior - honors everything. 2 AP's. maybe one college course: yearbook, precalc/trig, college algebra (maybe), AP english, AP psychology, art of film, lifelong fitness.</p>

<p>i've only taken the SAT once, i got a 1730. i expect i'll be getting 2000, 2100 second time around. i'm taking the lit and spanish with listening SAT subject tests. i got a 5 on my AP spanish test.</p>

<p>weighted gpa as of last year is 3.9
class rank as of last year is 16/458</p>

<p>EC's
latino heritage club: 4 years, 3rd year secretary, this year i'm VP
NHS: 2 years. this year i'm reporter
international club: 3 years
this past summer i did a paid internship at penn state hershey medical center where i completed a full research project on the role of perlecan in synovial angiogenesis
in my sophomore year i tutored at the community action commission for 2 1/2 months
this year i have a job with Americorps tutoring kids who are still learning to speak english. it's going to be for 8 months
i did a program called PULSE for 2 years in a row that's basically like med school classes for high schoolers</p>

<p>misc stuff
i've won several essay contests,
i was born in dominican republic and have lived in the US for about 10 years now
i fluently speak both spanish and english</p>

<p>and that's pretty much all i can think of. i have great writing abilities, which i know is important. what do you guys think?</p>

<p>oh, and i go to a magnet/satellite school. it’s a college prep school which also focuses on science and technology</p>

<p>Certainly retake the SAT, aim for a 2200+
Otherwise I would say you have a chance. Since ivy admissions are quite mercurial from person to person, I would say Columbia is a reach.</p>

<p>I’m guessing from your ECs you are an URM which at Columbia gives you a pretty big advantage since they really stress diversity, etc. What with your strong ECs, awards, etc…if you can get your SAT 2000+ I think you have a very good shot at getting in.</p>
