S took the ACT three times and the last sitting was in July. For colleges that want to see scores from all sittings, I’m confused about how to report those on the Common App. For this application, we have changed the number of sittings to report to 3. However, since the Common App only asks for the highest sub scores and the highest composite, how does that help the college if they want to see all the scores? Since S got his highest composite and sub scores from the July test, they will really only see those scores (we are not sending official scores at this time). Am I missing something?
All the schools my daughter applied to also wanted official scores from ACT/SAT as part of the application. She self reported but again, they wanted official scores as well. The only scores she held off sending were AP scores.
^ We thought the same thing as OP! S19 only took one test (SAT in March) but the wording of “highest subscore” seemed odd because he didn’t have a “highest” - just a one-timer. We played around with it out of curiosity but it doesn’t provide more fields to enter subscores, even if you say you’ve taken more than one past test. The tutorial is no help either. So it seems impossible to report all scores on the CA itself. Many schools allow self-reporting this year but several still require all your scores be reported; in fact, S19 has one school that lands right at this intersection. That school, thankfully, included a section on its supplement that allows you to enter all your other scores.
OP, if your son’s schools don’t seem to offer a way to self report additional scores on the CA, call them and find out how to do so ie should they be uploaded on the admissions portal or e-mailed to his admissions counsellor? If you still have time, it might just be best to send them in officially.
You can ask if the school will accept the scores from her HS transcript. Otherwise you will probably have to send all through the ACT org and pay accordingly.
I guess I’ll call, but the school says self-reporting is fine. Our HS transcripts do not include standardized test scores.
I was about to call, but looked again on their website. @JBStillFlying you are right that there will be a way to do it on the application portal that is created after the app is submitted. Thanks all!
^ @elena13, my impression this year is that many colleges are making it quite easy to self-report even multiple scores. I must say I’m enjoying the cost savings!
