Reporting AP Scores

As an incoming freshman in Artsci, should I send all of my AP scores to WashU or just the ones I want to count towards the 15 prematriculation credits?

I could be wrong - but I don’t think CollegeBoard offers a choice. You have to report all AP scores.

Will WashU consider AP scores during admissions process? S has taken 9 AP exams so far and earned a score of 5 on each. Should he have college board send them to WashU or just self report on Common App?

It certainly couldn’t hurt to report them on the Common App if they’re all good scores, but I’m not sure if they’re really used for admissions. They can grant you course credit, though.

To be honest, it’s been a long time since I applied so I’m a bit shaky on some of the specifics like this. I’m sure some other people can offer more insight.

If anything, reporting good AP scores can only help your chance of admission. If you send in your scores via CollegeBoard now they will be automatically added to your unofficial transcript if you end up attending WashU. In any case, make sure you self report them as on the CommonApp. If your son takes more AP tests this year you can just self report for now and send in the official CollegeBoard one later on to be granted the 15 maximum pre-matriculation credit that WashU permits.

Common app is used by the univ to decide if you deserve an offer of admission. So I would report all your APs to show that you are taking challenging courses and taking the exams. Then, have college board send your final AP results to the school regardless of the number. Washu will determine the best 15 units to give you credit. If you disagree with their decision and think another AP test should be credited, all you need to do is tell Washu and they will change it. That is what we did.
