I got 5"s in AP Chemistry, AP Statistics, AP Calc AP, and AP US History. I also got a 2 in AP English Language and Composition.I am applying to some selective schools. Should i report AP scores on common app? Will the 2 hurt my chances for college admissions?

Honestly, I think your 5’s in four subjects are a lot more impressive than having one 2. Admissions officers know that sometimes people aren’t exactly “ready” to take a test! It could be a bad day, they might be sick, etc. but your multiple 5’s show that your strongly qualified!

For purposes of admission, no college requires AP scores and if you want them considered by colleges that do give some consideration to them (a minority), you can self report them on your application or essay and you can report whichever ones you want.

I would not recommend self-reporting the 2. You should self report the other scores in your applications.

Self-report the 5s; do not self-report the English Lit. Some high schools do not require students to actually take the AP exam after taking the course, and with thousands of apps, most readers aren’t going to sit and match up what scores were reported vs the classes taken (unless the number is signifcantly off, e.g., your transcript lists 8 AP courses and you self-report 3…)
