Reporting book publication in additional information section?

Hi all,

My debut collection of poetry is forthcoming from an independent publishing press (backed by a university) in April 2018. The book is a saddle-stitch paperback that will retail for $12.00, and the publisher is investing time to edit, design, copyright/proofread, publicize and market the book. I have won several well-known writing awards and intend to major in English, so I was thinking about mentioning it in the additional information section.

My impression of college admissions is that there’s a general stigma around self-publishing or online publishing. Should I emphasize that my book is forthcoming from a traditional publisher, and has undergone a lengthy submission process before acceptance? How much detail would be sufficient?

Thanks in advance.

Absolutely. This sounds like a wonderful accomplishment. Definitely mention it.

I’d include the full citation for your book as you would if you were including it in a works cited page. Admissions officers will know that a UP is not a vanity press.

No.

Admissions does not need a dog-and-pony show. Follow @ProfessorMom1 's advice above.
