My D received an email from the Studend Aid Office yesterday.

They asked her to fax 2008 tax returns which she did. Their website says applicants don’t have to send such information unless specifically asked to do so. Is this a good sign or just nothing ? They typically request that kind of info with a decision letter.

A good sign. I doubt the admissions office would ask the financial aid office to finalize a financial aid package unless it were seriously considering accepting your daughter. It’s not definitive but it’s definitely positive . .

y’know, it sounds good, but remember too that all of the schools are being especially careful about their money this year–though Bowdoin is supposed to be need-blind, right? AAARRRGGGHHH! I don’t know about your houses, but around here, we sure are losing our minds with trying to second-guess every hint and whisper! Good luck, everybody! :)

Except for Bowdoin wouldn’t bother to double check the applicant financial data just for the hell of it. There’s no need to ask for the tax form if the application is already in the reject pile, which would be quite high by this time of the year . .
