Rescind Admission

Hello!
I was accepted to Brown and I committed. I am an international student so I sent in my IB predicted scores. I was predicted a 42 which I think may have helped me in admissions but is ridiculously high and now I’m not sure I can get this score. If I get much lowe than this do you think they could rescind my acceptance? What do you think of like a 35? Would they take my place away? Thanks a lot really stressing!

They definitely didn’t admit you based on a guess you made about a future test score. Don’t worry about it.

@hufflepuffle do you think so? On the website it says that if you don’t get near your predicted they have the right to take the acceptance away

They would only rescind admission based on grades dropping in your final transcript. You don’t get your IB results until July or something, and those only impact the amount of credit hours you’ll get.

It says on the website that they matter

Don’t ask for an opinion/analysis then argue against it if it isn’t what you want to hear. These knowledgable people have already said what (even I) believe to be he truth. Brown isn’t so desperate for applicants that they admit people on “maybe” scores. When the admissions committee goes through an app they look at it holistically. They say “okay here are the objectives, and here are the assumptions. Worst and best case scenario are this - do we still want this applicant?” Don’t argue just take the answers.

@Brycifer I am not arguing, I am just informing people about something they may not be aware of, as it is probably different for international students. Anyways if you believe so strongly thank you for your opinion, it does reassure me.

You are borrowing on tomorrow’s stress. Are you just waiting on the score or do you still need to take the test? Was your estimate based on a practice test?

I think international students often get a “predicted” IB score, and colleges do use that score when admitting. OP - a 35 sounds very low for Brown. If your school predicted a 42 (out of the possible 45?) then they must think you’re very bright and capable. The testing starts next week. Go in confident and as prepared as possible… I am sure you’ll do fine. Don’t stress.
