I'm a senior in high school, and was wondering if colleges can rescind me on the basis of my absenses over the past years. I have a lot, not because I was actually absent(for a few days I really was because of being sick and having the stomach flu), but a lot of them are because the teachers at my school get irritated that the students are late, so a lot of times they just mark you absent on the sheet, then when you come in, they just don't bother changing it. It's not due to senioritis either. I checked my transcript and last year I have almost 20 absences marked in one class!

So for years you didn't bother correcting your record? Seems strange you would let it slide

No, for other years it was only like 4 or 5 which didn't seem like a big deal to me, but then I checked for last year (which isn't added to our transcript until it's completed so technically this year) and found the twenty absences. I know I should have checked earlier in the year, but over all the other college admission factors, I wasn't thinking about the absences on my transcript as a big thing.
