Rescinded applications?

Hey! I just got into northeastern university :) and i'm super excited except i'm kind of nervous at the aspect of my acceptance being rescinded... has anyone had their acceptance taken back? If so do you mind saying how? Also! What would be the lowest grade that would be acceptable?

Thanks!

You would really have to do poorly in your classes for that to happen.

is a D in one class = rescinded acceptance

No, but you may get a “we are disappointed and you had better shape up” letter from NU.

It’s very unlikely, suppose you put your deposit down and then they rescind? What happens to that money? The process becomes to complicated for the college and the student. Don’t worry: especially if you got in early decision!

@mereppere‌ - universities DO rescind acceptances; putting down a deposit does not protect you if you fail to deliver decent grades your senior year. Multiple "D"s or an “F” do put you in a dangerous position.

@nanotechnology‌ will one D constitute as a rescinded acceptance?

Probably not

How about multiple C’s for something like Notre Dame or Northwestern?

Why are you asking this on the Northeastern forum?

@TomSrOfBoston Sorry if it’s a little OT! I just though to ask because it was a related discussion and Northeastern is also a great school. I just searched on the forums about rescinded apps.

How likely are you to get those grades…

It is called senioritis. After getting accepted many students tend to slack off. The straight A student gets a couple of B’s, the B students gets a couple of C’s. That is not a threat. But the occasional student will get D’s and may even fail a course. That tells adcoms that the student is a slacker and an offer can be rescinded.

I am also a senior and know the feeling. But getting a D? That’s some serious slacking hahah

I highly doubt someone qualified enough to get into Northwestern would end up getting a D by slacking off…most people that get into institutions like that are overachievers by nature.
