I’ve been rescinded admissions for the fall because I got a F in ap calculus. Does anyone have experience or advice on how to successfully appeal?

I’m not sure what I should mention to explain the grade, but I was thinking about:
grandpa’s death (is it too common? even though it’s true?)

mom’s new job and parent’s work schedule (my ap calc class in the morning and I was late/missed a lot because I had to get my little brother to school too)

missed some assignments/tests that I was not able to makeup so it really brought down my grade (missed the makeup date so teacher didnt let me)

lastly, Cal poly was my top choice… I’ve visited the school multiple times and I’ve been to orientations. I’ve also met my roommates and future classmates…
Would it help to include my passion for the school?

It’s terrifying knowing I probably won’t get my appeal accepted. And I know I should have been more responsible … but if you have any advice, thank you!!

And If I am denied again, is community college the only option?

You’re in a tough spot. Poly evaluates candidates almost 100% objectively. ECs can count for up to 10%, but the rest is just numbers. They are very big on trajectory and rigor.

Rescinded… Chances at appeal?

Just got accepted!!! Computer Science Major …

Just got accepted!!!
Computer Science Major
In state, 1400 SAT

But I got a D in ap calculus first semester senior year. Will this still meet the minimum C requirement since it’s an ap class?..

Thanks for the link. I’m computer science major but is it better off I go to a community college and try to transfer to a different school, my second year?

would it help to include ECs to the appeal? I feel like this appeal should be more about explaining my grade :/

I’m not optimistic that you can explain away an F. If you were admitted in CS, your grades had to be good. To fall to an F as a final grade would take way more than the things you’ve listed. It looks like the sad story of “I’m in, so I can slack hard in my Senior year.” Schools HATE that because it’s a window into your work ethic and/or resilience. This may just be the consequence of the choices you made.
