hey guys, i know i’ve been on this site alot recently, and i have had alot of problems, so im sorry for any inconvenience that I have caused you guys. I have just one more probem: I recieved an “F” in a community college course (Accounting) during the fall semester and my conditional admission is once again at risk. The reason I got an F was the stupid mistake of me not dropping the class, since i decided to change my major from business to engineering late into the semester. I did not attend many classes due to sickness, and I was unable to take the final due to a strong fever.

My question is: Is there any way the community college i went to for classes (Fullerton College) will accept grade appeals from an F to a “W” (withdrawal) given my circumstances?

thanks again your help, time, and patience. Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

There is little to no chance of them changing your grade from F to W. JC/College academic policies are a lot stricter and more rigid than anything in high school.

The responsibility rests with the student to speak with the professor and withdraw from the class in the case of major illness BEFORE final exam. And even then, if it is very late in the semester, you will need a massive doctor’s notice to withdraw.

What you are asking here is not an appeal, but a grade change. Once the F is out, it is pretty much set in stone. You might buy some knee pads and beg with the department chair and then the dean, and see how they react. But even then it is a slim chance because faculty does not want to create a bad precedent and open up the floodgate for a grade change tidal wave.

You ask previously ask if Cal Poly will rescind your offer if you fall below a GPA 3.2. I think combined with your F and your below 3.0 GPA, you have a serious problem on your hand.

My older cousin is at CP engineering, they are REALLY serious about academic policies. One time he was put on academic probation for getting a single D in an engineering class, the engineering adviser made him sign a binding contract to raise his grades by next quarter or he will be asked to leave Cal Poly for good.

As for Ricardo1993, um with an F i’m sorry to say that Cal poly will probabaly take away your admissions. you should call and ask admissions. If they don’t say right then on the phone that it is a deal breaker then you might still have a chance but if they tell you that an F probably won’t fly then you pretty much got ur answer. good luck 2 u and call admissions!
