Just got a notice from UC Irvine today that my transfer admission has been rescinded due to not completing the math requirement (I had to withdraw from my Spring 2012 classes due to health and psychological problems, all of which I have documentation of). I don't see how this is fair in the least bit. I talked to the admissions counselor about this numerous times and she said that it would be escalated to the admission committee and that they would let me know ASAP. I called the admissions office more than five times to double check and make sure. The admissions office representatives told me that if they don't take any course of action by the last filing period (~September 14), that I should be okay. Instead, they have rescinded me four days before the quarter begins, which I find ridiculous because now I can't enroll for my local community college courses, I have leased out a house with housemates/roommates, and have paid for my classes. I can't pay for the house without financial aid, and I can't back out of the lease now. UCI just screwed me over in every way possible and seeing how there is only five days until the quarter begins, I don't know how I could even possibly appeal this decision (I was rescinded from UCR my freshman year of college and that took MONTHS to appeal). Has anyone gone through a similar situation that could offer me some advice?

Oh man…that’s really insane. It’s been two days since you posted this so I hope you drove down there or contacted them and worked the situation out. I hope everything works out…if it doesn’t, UCI really just screwed you up. I’m not sure how they can do this so close to the quarter but I’m sure you should be able to make a good case if you are assertive enough.
