Rescinding Admissions?

no friendly teacher for another class who might bump your grade there to pull up your GPA? Someone who might think it isn’t fair to have to bounced out of Cal?

My english teacher might… I pulled my grade up from 83 to 90 through the final and stuff last semester…

Wish me luck. (I have an 84 in the class at the moment. LOOOL… But that’s before our final paper that’s worth 30% of our grade.)

Then your best bet is a dual approach - ask for some advice from the english teacher about something and make sure he/she learns that you are trying to work hard because if you don’t get one grade up from where it is now, you are rescinded from Cal, but also work really well on that paper to make sure it is noticeably better than what you have been handing in before.

3.4 UW first semester
2.8 UW second semester

Sent a letter to the undergraduate office explaining my situation… (all APs, family problems, mother was sick, dad out of country frequently…)

Does anyone know if it’s 3.0 overall (3.4, 2.8 averaged to 3.1 - not rescinded)
or 3.0 BOTH semesters? (3.4 okay, 2.8 will get me rescinded)

I’ve heard stories of people getting a 2.8 first semester and just… sliding in… but… *. I’m scared as * right now.

im pretty sure its each semester not overall. good job with the sap story route, seems to work alot. worked for my ucla supplemental lol hopefully things will work out

Condition of admission is 3.0 UW separately considered for each semester AND no grades of D or F on any class. It might be worth following up with a phone call - the conditions of admission on myberkeleyapp that lay out your obligations also specify the address and the phone number to contact if there is an issue. The sooner you get a live person to resolve this, the sooner you can either breath again or start hunting for a college spot for Fall, depending upon whether they grant you an exception or rescind. Better to find out now than closer to or after traveling out to begin your first semester.

It’s your problem that you let it get anywhere close to the borderline. Why did you let it slide so much?

Just keep that in mind. If a 89.9% was bumped up, then should a 89.5%? What about a 89%? Maybe even 88%?

Huh? I couldn’t care less about the 89.9% / 89.5% / even 88% thing since it’s stupid and illogical. I just asked for a bump because I needed the bump and I didn’t get it - what’s the big deal?

And to answer your question why did I let it slide so much, I guess I burned out during second semester after living the past 8 years without my dad & a non-English speaking mother who went through a huge surgery a few years ago while trying to handle all AP courses and looking for scholarships constantly - is that good enough of an answer for you???

anyways, got a reply back, and i’m in the clear. clearly they are more understanding than people like excelblue :)

Please don’t take me wrong: I just wanted to point out an honest observation (and alternate viewpoint). Sorry that I missed your post explaining family issues.

You didn’t need the bump. What you needed was some understanding from the adcom, which you got.
