Recently I applied ED to Haverford, I was recruited by the lacrosse coach and at the time felt it was the best decision for me. But today I received an email from the Army, and I've received a full AROTC scholarship (I applied for it to school like Dartmouth, UVA, Duke). Haverford doesn't have AROTC, so I'm forced between paying full price at Haverford or a full ride at these other schools. I have a few questions:

1.) Since I will be applying for financial aid to all these schools, I won't have to accept HC offer of admittance until after I hear back from my RD choices correct?
2.) Is it possible to "turn" my ED application into a RD application at HC?
3.) If I had to rescind my application all together, would that be possible? Would HC understand my situation or is it possible they'd tell the other schools of my "dishonesty" (which was never my intention!)

1.) Since I will be applying for financial aid to all these schools, I won’t have to accept HC offer of admittance until after I hear back from my RD choices correct?

Incorrect. If you submitted all required financial aid paperwork, youll get a financial aid offer with your decision. You must then either accept or reject it . . . but you do not get to sit on it until your RD decisions come in.

If you did not submit the required FA paperwork, then youll be obligated to accept Haverfords offer without knowing what your FA offer will be. I wouldnt recommend doing this! If you havent submitted the FA forms, find out from the admissions office if you still have time to do it. If not, you need to change your app to RD (see below).

2.) Is it possible to “turn” my ED application into a RD application at HC?

Yes. Just send an email notifying Haverford that thats what youd like to do. Do it soon.

3.) If I had to rescind my application all together, would that be possible?

Yes. You cant rescind your application, but you can withdraw it, so long as you do it before any decisions are issued. Again, just send an email notifying the school that thats what you want to do.
