Physics C has been a nightmare for me this year. I've applied to the school of engineering at several colleges, and have gotten accepted. I'm normally a straight A student but I posted a B in this class this first semester, and will most likely have a C+. All my other grades will be As, or maybe one B+. As a result, I'm thinking about switching my tentative major (if possible) during my first year in college to economics or math. I'm planning on calling the college that I will end up attending (if it is a top private, such as MIT, Duke, Rice, Princeton-not if its a state school) and stating my concern over this grade. Should I admit that I'm not as enthused about engineering as I was at the beginning of this year, and tell them that I'm considering changing my proposed "major". Because I dont want to send in my final report and then get told over the summer that I'm being rescinded.

A C plus probably isn't going to cause a rescindment. A "D" might. Don't bother to provide the college with an explanation.

Check the CC archives for info on what kind of grades caused some people to be rescinded.

Thanks 10 char

No, why? (10 chars)

Do that only if it's a real concern. Usually, majors are not set in stone until the second or third year. So, don't go off changing what you do before knowing what alternative you truly want.

Maybe you're just hitting a tough point in AP Physics C. The calculus involved may be a bit intimidating. As I once joked before, the C in the course name stands for your grade. ;)

No, you won't get rescinded. They take grades in context. They will be able to see why you got a C. It's not exactly an easy course.

Until they say something, there's nothing to worry about. If they do rescind you anyways, you can usually provide an explanation.

Don't sweat it. You'll be fine.

i heard c's are nothing.
d's = bad

I think you'll do just fine. I highly doubt you will be rescinded for a c in Physics C. Again, do not explain anything unless they contact you.
