I've been worried lately that I could get my admission rescinded. Lately, my grades have been slipping. Right now, I have all B's except one or two C's, but I think I might have more C's and maybe a D or two when it's over.

I'm currently taking 6 classes, five of which are AP classes. I have been caught up in a ton of extracurricular activities and I'm failing to make up a lot of the work because of bad time management. I've also missed a lot of days. I'm worried I'm screwed due to my laziness.

Here’s what I sent earlier to another poster. I think the same information applies to your situation:

Realistically you’ll be fine. One D or F is NOT going to cause your admission to be rescinded but I’d think admissions will expect you to do some 'splaining. Come up with a good answer as to how that grade fell and don’t blame the teacher or the curriculum - they won’t want to hear that. Maybe something along the lines of personal drama or working extra hours and having too much on your plate, or that you’ve changed the direction you’re headed and will not be continuing on in Engineering/Phsyics, etc.

I’m sure you do not need me to tell you this but hopefully you learned a lesson. You cannot survive U of I without a good strong work ethic. Intelligence alone is not enough. It will be harder to dig yourself out of poor first semester grades. Don’t limit yourself at U of I because of crappy grades. In other words get your “stuff” together.

Consider yourself fortunate as you probably learned your lesson the hard way at a time where it won’t really impact you (high school years vs. college years). You now know what you need to do to perform well. Let’s face it college is NOT going to be any easier than HS. Either lighten up on the really difficult classes or figure that you will be spending every waking moment working for your grades. Good luck.
