Rescore? Need advice.

So I got my AP results in the mail and to my dismay I got 3's on both English Lit. & Psychology. Not only was I very confident after both of them (moreso than other APs I've taken) but the amount of study I put in to Psychology should have ensured me at LEAST a 4.

I'm rather disappointed and confused about this. I didn't feel like I had any weak area in either test (MC or Essays). In Psychology, I knew all but one of the terms for the free response and added a few additional terms to no apparent avail.

I can't believe that collegeboard could've screwed up on BOTH of these, but I am absolutely sure that I scored higher. What should I do?

If you’re confident that a rescore would result in a higher score, go for it. Don’t get your hopes up though if there is no change.

The CollegeBoard can’t rescore the FRQ/essay portion. Your stuck with the grade they gave you for the essays.

They can, however, rescore your M/C section.

It is possible that the machine screwed up when scanning the M/C section. Get a rescore if your confident that you did well on the FRQs.

By the way, did you write in complete sentences for the Psych FRQs?

Psych MC counts for 2/3rds of your score, so if the CB only counted your MC on that test, you could have still made a 3. Probably re-score Psych. English Lit, maybe not.

If there were a multiple choice grading error, you would almost certainly have a 1 or 2 on either exam. Both your scores are probably valid; if you didn’t walk out of psych knowing that you absolutely destroyed both sections, chances are your real grade isn’t a 4 or 5.

With that being said, if you want to get your exams rescored, fork over the cash for the multiple choice rescoring. Also, order your free response booklets. While you can’t get your FRQs rescored, as already stated, there’s a small chance that your FRQs on either exam were lost. This will not be known to you or the College Board unless you order your FRQ booklets; if ETS cannot find them, they will offer to give you a new AP score based on your multiple choice performance alone (basically assuming that if your FRQs were scored, you would have earned the same percent value as on the multiple choice section).

Best of luck.
