RESCORE sat?? its possible i made erasure mistakes but is it worth $100?

also does anyone know what exactly happens in the rescore essay section, i dont quite understand why collegeboard will not reread your essay

http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/scores/sending/handscore.html

ALso, has anyone else gone through this hand scoring service, if so, were there any mistakes?

anyone with anything to say? if you are gona read this post why not comment

Does it really cost $100 now? That doesn't seem worth it to me.

it cost $100 to handschore multiple choice and to check if essay score was entered correctly(not rescore essay)
otherwise it costs $50 to handscore multiple choice only

If you got a 200-400 on some section and you're absolutely sure you deserved a 700 or more, I'd do it. Otherwise, who cares? Your scores in the same section from other tests will show that you know your stuff.

its that i got 4 wrong in math (710) and im pretty sure i only got 2 wrong which means (740-750) also i remeber erasing some answers and changing them, maybe i didnt erase fully?

It would be worth a $100 to me, but I have money because I drive an 8 year old contour.

beprepn

also if there are mistakes CB will refund your money

even though you feel like you only got two wrong, you probably messed up on the grid-ins.

freakin' grid-ins!!!

Why not just take it again? Unless you got WAY lower than you expected, I'd just give it another shot if you can.

i took it 4 times, thats enough and also Dec is last test day for most colleges im applying to, also, im pretty sure my gridins are correct cuz i skimmed through the SAT 1 Dec Thread on collegeconfidential

the probability of erasure mistakes is quite small actually. the machine is more accurate than one may think. unless you distinctly remember erasing an answer and a definite black mark still being there, i would not recommend wasting $100. I would say one out of every 500 kids actually gets their score changed.

If the machine is "not sure" about an erasure, it kicks the paper out, and a real person looks at the scanned page and makes a decision.

this DEC handscoring reminded me just now, i prolly made a lot of erasures on SAT 2 CHemistry in JUNE, i got 640, but i remember erasing alot, do u think i could get that handscored even though its June??

**** i called CB and they said its too late to rescore SAT 2 CHEm in June, oh well, ill just do the SAT 1 in DEC

also regarding gridins, if i wrote the answer right but bubbled incorrectly will i get pts through handscoring?

unfortunately, you won't sonic, because of the reasoning that you could have had 2 answers but unsure of what to put so you put both

i dont know a single kid who actually had his score changed through handscoring

If there is a disagreement between the gridded and written answer, the paper is also kicked out to a human being (the scanners can read optical characters). The person will accept the written answer, as the assumption is that it is more likely that a wrong circle was filled in rather than a wrong number being written. Answer sheets are also kicked out if any of the student information written in doesn't match the gridding, or if the written, or the gridded information, such as name or address, is missing.

so is the essay verification worth $50, do they actually reread the essay and rescore? because if they dont then im not paying $50 for essay verification, i will just order the multiple choice handscore

just out of curiosity...how do you guys know all these details about the Collegeboard's scanning systems?
