How would I find these opportunities? Is there a student center that helps student find internships and stuff? I have no idea how to start.

Has anyone done anything at LBL and if so, what program was it? i am currently an engineering student who would like to get some experience in a working environment. I am only a first year so I am not sure if there are any open positions. Any advice would be appreciated.

Ask your professors and gsis about possible opportunities, although it may be too late to find a position for this semester. As a freshman, it will be hard to find research positions or internships as many people demand at least basic junior level engineering coursework.

Also ask your friends if they are currently doing any research; they can put in a good word for you which really helps your chances of landing a position.

Undergrad research center:

The career center might be able to help with internships, and possibly research opportunities. The link is on the main Berkeley website.
