Research Science Institute 2006

Thats great.
Reality is ~5% people of applicants get in. So seriously, i dont think bit more time you have with an application in front of you will make that much of a difference. just a little caution, BS is bad, people can see through BS to determine if u either really like research or not. Truthfully, I think having the application longer will give you more time to change and change your essay into so superficial piece thats not even yours in a sense.

I'm probably going to Gov School anyway (I've decided to seriously try to get in because EVERYONE talks about what an awesome experience it is).

Hm. I'm listening to RENT trailers over and over again. 7 DAYS BABY!!

Why would you attempt an application with no intention of getting in? It just seems like a waste of time and thinking, not saying all people who complete applications use either of those.

Wait... you've decided to go for gov school instead /because everyone talks about what an awesome experience it is/?

are we not being enthusiastic enough about RSI? ;)

oh you guys are....

He just thinks he has no shot.

1) Gov School is binding, but I won't know if I got in until after the RSI deadline

2) I have a better chance of getting into Gov School and a very low (statistically speaking) chance of getting into RSI. I'd prefer getting into both Gov School and RSI than being rejected by RSI and not applying to Gov School.

So, just to increase my chance of having something to do next summer, I'm applying to Gov School as well (app due in a month). Since, IMO, I have a good chance of getting in (the Environment school), I'll probably end up going there.

Good PLan!

As for me...RSI? PROMYS? SSP? COllege CLasses?

family guy? when all else fails, gotta go family guy

Haha.

My other choices are NJSP, research, and precollege programs.

sorry theoneo - i didn't mean to start an attack on you/force you to justify your decision! gov school sounds awesome and i bet you'll have an awesome summer wherever you go anyways.

(butbutbut... i honestly thought i had no shot at getting into rsi, and ended up very happy that i applied anyway. so i would still encourage you to apply and see what happens ^.^)

do the apps change much from year to year?

They don't really, no.

I didn't have any idea I would get in either! But trust me guys, RSI is the best possible thing you could do in a summer! So much fun and so much awesome research. I don't know how they do it.

WOOOO

I'm so excited!

Sugar rush decreasing........>>>>>T__T <<<<

So probability of Dec 1st is 1/31. <--- My math aptitude is high enough for RSI, definitely.

Can any RSI alumni explain how the selection by states works? I know it's pretty secretive, so just tell me what you know, or what your guesses are. thanks

Who cares Mr. Layman, just apply and stop trying to figure out the tiny nuances of a vast bureaucratic system that us mere mortals will never understand.

Edit: I have no idea what I just said!!!!:)

On a different note, how many of your rickoid alumni are applying for counselor positions at RSI' 06???

I don't know if I should or not. I'll be younger than almost all the 06 kids, so I don't know if they would take me.

Why, how young are you?

c'mon, vinayak, they'll never know!! you're too tall anyways. :D

Yeah, i was wondering the same thing. (I'll still be 16 next summer, and don't /quite/ have the height thing going.) There's got to be some sort of legal responsibility involved - but mebbe not for TAs?

yeaaa i wanna TA!
