First of all, come on! Be optimistic! As you can see, not everyone who gets in has won ISEF awards or anything.

Second of all, to answer your question, my opinion is that it would help show your interest, but unless you participated in the research yourself, it wouldn't really count. But it's a huge plus in terms of showing interest as well as experience.

I would be optimistic, but when I think about it....I haven't been to ISEF, haven't won an olympiad medal or been to a training camp, haven't done many things....I just have my passion....and some research.

Going to ISEF or winning Olympiad medals are not requirements to get in... not everybody had ISEF or Olympiad experience. I think showing your passions is more important than anything you win.

The thing that gets me is that they turn down MANY aplpicants who have lots of passion for a subject, so why would they want to take me?

That is the sort of mentality I have when I think about RSI.

I know others can solve problems and theorize better than I can.....THAT is what gets me.

I like reading about Relativity and the way nature works. Don't get me wrong, I like to do problem solving, but I find the information stimulating rather than the application of formulas.

Think about it this way: you've got a better chance of getting in if you apply than if you don't :). And yeah, I really didn't think I was going to get in, but I did (if that makes you people feel any better).

Lessee... what I noticed at RSI was how smart, yet how modest everyone was. Rickoids work hard, yes, but they also know how to mess around and have tons of fun.

I definitely agree with altair. People were intelligent, but they also knew how to enjoy life and have fun. We were balanced our academic pursuits with our inner playfulness. When I think of RSI, I remember the hard work as well as the games and fun (esp. the fun). Definitely apply... if you read the RSI05 thread, a bunch of people thought they wouldn't get in, but they did.

hey guys. waves yes, Justin and Lisa are from TJ and Yi and I are from Harker but I was there as an international, so I can't say much about the domestic application process, which was pretty darn different from what I went through (we had interviews and other random crap). good luck to everyone though.

"One day, I was in Mexico and I was in a store and I was realllllly hungry, but I had no money :( So I grabbed a bag of Fritos and just ran. In the distance, I could hear the store owner yelling 'Frito Banditooooo!!!'" hahhahahha benecke!

sup guys im going to be apply to rsi this year, though im not sure if i have much of a chance. So just wanted to say hi cuz i'll be on this thread a lot.
