I mailed my app on the 11th with a return postcard. So far no response. I am in Chicago.

@ikeail Iām just really worried, cause thereās a lot of applicants who probably are more qualified than me. Although my science credentials are okay, I donāt feel like Iām a well rounded applicant.

uh sciencechamp, are you sure your stats are correct? The only people who are siemens finalists in both 2012 and 2013 are Vinciane Chen, Jason Lee, Allen Lee, and David Lu the first being a senior, and the last three being sophmores. Furthermore, none of these people went to MOP 2013 since I also went to MOP 2013 and know none of these people. If you are a ā ā ā ā ā , please refrain from posting fake stats as to try to intimidate other people. Otherwise, if you are a person I know, then please send me a message and I will personally apologize to you.

@cosmtig I called the McLean office today, and they said that they would deliver all the packages that were missed on Saturday. The only thing is that my package tracking info has not updated, and it still says āNotice Left (Business Closed)ā. Could you check and see if you have the same issue, because it could be that they just havenāt updated the tracking info.

@indianboy

You can track your application? Besides that, has RSI ever given an early reply before the date that they SAID they were going to release their results, i.e. the last week of March

@absoluteMIT No, I was talking about the packageā¦not the application. The tracking information for my package has not been updated for the redelivery, so I was wondering if it was the same for @cosmtig as well. I emailed Ms. Ballestero this morning, and she said that there is a huge snowstorm in the D.C. area, so I hope that my application got in on time, or that they will accept it late.

@sciencechamp24, unfortunately i also checked the usaco gold division members based on silver results for the past 3 years and found none of the names that @absoluteMIT mentioned.

No really, but should we post our stats for fun? (just sayingā¦Iām not taking the initiative haha runs and hides in a corner)

Posting stats is fine if you want a recommendation on your chances, although honestly based on past experiences/ people who made it, a lot of it is based on essays anyway. If you instead post false stats itās just plain stupid. Thereās no reason to unless you truly TRULY want to just show off which is quite frankly NOT what RSI is looking for nor anyone else on this forum for that matter. Oh yeah, I forgot to even take a look at the USACO results. Most of the Gold people also went to MOP anyway as well, only in Silver atm tho :(

sure. i donāt see whatās wrong with that.

USACO Silver Division
USAMO Qualifier (2012)
MOSP Attendee (2013)

Siemens Semifinalist (2012,2013)

@Indianboy Oh I see, nvm then.

also greenbat what state are you from?
stats are similar to yours so Iām scared :P

for many reasons i canāt reveal my exact state, but i will say that iām not on the east coast

thank god :P, darn i canāt pm youā¦

absoluteMIT, just wondering how our profiles are so similar. what are your stats like?

all those olympiads essentially same, slightly different research wise tho
USACO Silver
USAMO/USAJMO (2011-2013)
MOP Attendee (2013)
USAPho SemiFinalist (2013)

NAClO Semifinalist (2013)
Science Olympiad States individual 1st place (one event)

off the top of my head this is it, maybe one or 2 more things donāt really rememberā¦if you really care, iāll give you a full list later

wow! what a fantastic profile you haveā¦ i think iām stronger than you but essays will make a difference

yep and so do you! thatās why i was worried about location, although Iām not completely sure if RSI does indeed have selectivity based on region. Also, tbh, after a certain point itās just the essays, like as Iāve said before, thatās why you have like people who have no research exp. nor any olympiad experience making RSI. Itās because RSI committee loves those essays

how long did you write for the āhow did you hear about rsi question?ā to me and my college counselors that was the most important question so i spent 3/4 a page on that, but a lot of my friends wrote one sentence, so iām quite scared

oh wow, according to my counselor, he had quite the opposite viewpoint. I wrote 3 lines essentially stating that I heard it through MOP friends. Counselor liked it because it āshowedā off the MOP aspect while keeping it short and simple. I honestly needed the extra space because I really wanted to expand on the passion thatās supposedly key in the essay through the other questions.

oh noā¦ iām really scared now sigh
