Residence hall linens

I just don’t think you will find sheets, comforters, towels and stuff like that for less than rhl at say target or even tjmaxx. Target is not cheap. I was just shopping there for some shorts and some tops and i was amazed by how much stuff was. I really don’t understand why people say that it is cheap. Maybe it is less expensive than some of the nice mall stores that sell bedding and appliances but i don’t shop for that stuff there either.

While i do love going to TJ’s, it can so totally be hot or miss when it comes to finding something specific. You really never know what you will find there. I bought a set of glasses there and then decided i wanted more to match, but they didn’t have any more when i went back. The same is true for bath towels or sheets, don’t go and buy some and then think you will find something that matches.

I don’t think you should worry about buying the stuff from rhl already. The people that i know that have it have been happy with the quality and definitely with the price.

Wait until August, almost every store has Twin XL stuff on sale.

why wait on something as trivial as school bedding. it is so easy to just order and be done with it. I don’t like to wait to do things personally because i will end up forgetting. Imagine that-showing up to school and you have nothing to sleep on!

rhl has a good deal and they make the process simple, so what is the debate?

Love Bed, Bath and Beyond. They have a good selection, reasonable prices on dorm linens, accept expired 20% off coupons too! You can choose your items and they will have them available and ready for you at the location nearest your school. You can make changes at that time and pay for them then.

The quality of the products, and whether it’s really a “good deal.”

Walmart even is starting to advertise stuff now, so you wouldn’t really need to wait. Doing a quick comparison, RHL’s cheapest package at $159 gets you:

* 2 extra-long fitted sheets

 • 2 extra-long flat sheets
 • 2 standard pillow cases
 • 1 extra-fluffy pillow
 • 1 extra-long reversible comforter
 • 1 extra-long quilted mattress pad
 • 2 all-cotton bath towels
 • 2 matching cotton hand towels
 • 2 matching cotton wash cloths
 • 1 extra-long thermal cotton blanket
 • 1 bedside buddy

Pricing that out at WalMart:

2 sheet sets (flat, fitted, pillowcase) - $31.76
Pillow - $8.00
Comforter - $15.97
Mattress pad - $12.50
10 piece towel set (4 bath towels, 2 hand towels, 4 washcloths) - $29.88
Blanket - $12.47

Total = $110.58 (and you get more towels and washcloths…honestly, who would use only 2 towels/washcloths? I like to do laundry every two weeks…)

So good deal? Don’t think so. Convenient? Yeah.

It is true that you could go and fight the crowds at walmart, they seem to be busy no matter where or when you go. And it is also true that you can buy the cheapest stuff they have and save some money, i have seen pillows for 4 bucks there-of course you have to wonder how good those feel and how long they will last. It just depends on what you want to spend time doing. Shopping and re-shopping at wally, or other stuff.

I still say that the rhl package deal is a good one. You don’t get a warranty for the walmart stuff, and have fun waiting in line to return something. That is always a treat. as for only having 2 towels, well you can always bring a few old towels from home or buy a larger set. I only wish that i could wait 2-weeks to do my laundry…

Eh, I can go to a 24 hour Walmart at some odd hour of the night and be the only one there. But generally it’s not too bad during evenings/weekends, unless you’re shopping the week before people move in, in which case it’s a zoo.

I’d say, based on people that I know who have ordered from RHL, the lowest quality at Walmart is probably a small step above RHL.

If the warranty requires you to pay return shipping, it’s probably not worth it on something like blankets or towels.

I received an order for the complete campus collection. When I ordered, I was given free shipping. I was unhappy with the overall quality of the product. I wasn’t expecting department store quality but I didn’t expect dollar store quality either. Some items were not even like the photo or descriptions. I talked with a customer service rep and was told I would have to pay around $30 to return my order. The items are guaranteed but I would be responsible for the return costs. Wish I had inquired further before I placed this order.

I got my stuff a couple days after I ordered it. It seem like good quality to me. I don’t know why everyone is complaining about theirs

I have three kids who have gone/are going to three different schools. Today, we received a mailing from this outfit for our third child to buy RHL sheets and “value packs”. Each time with each of our children, the letter head was customized for the school: “Residence Hall Association of _____ University”. With the first child, I almost fell for it, thinking that this was an official mailing from her school’s Residence Life Department. One reason? The RE: of the letter was WHAT TO BRING AND HOW TO SAVE MONEY. Then, the underlined phrase: “These are the only linens we guarantee will fit” and “Regular sheets won’t fit our specialty sized beds” convinced me I had to buy these twin sheets for my freshman. Clearly, those twin XL sheets from other stores wouldn’t work. Obviously – as I’ve learned from experience with two other kids – those TJ Maxx twin XL will fit. And the dye won’t rub off. I won’t go as far as to say RHL Linens is a scam but I wonder if the student-run Residence Hall Associations of the universities get a cut of RHL’s sales. Combine that with the deceptive language in the mailings, the official envelope that throws you off (we thought it was information on which dorm our child was assigned to) and the poor quality of the products (as many have reported) – this whole thing stinks. My advice: don’t fall for it.

I’m starting to think its a luck of the draw with this. A set was gifted to me and everything is fine. Sure the sheets and comforter have a plastic smell to them, but hey they’re stored in plastic. The smells wash away. And the towels are pretty soft, which is winning.

Would I order from them again personally? Probably not since I like being able to feel the sheets, pillows, blankets before I buy them. But so far so good.

OMG - DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ThIS COMPANY! They are idiots! I am sending my son out of state to college. Since he is arriving by himself, I wanted his bedding there and waiting when he arrives. I can’t even tell you all the hassles I have had with this company! I have changed my order three times, because they call back after several days to let me know the pattern I selected is no longer available. No idea why they couldn’t figure that out at the time of the order?? When they called after the third time telling me the pattern was no longer available, I cancelled the order because I just could not trust this idiotic company. The main reason I used them was because of the free shipping directly to my son’s college in Colorado. Guess what, I just received their “cancelled” order at my home in San Diego! Therefore, if I had used them, my son would have no bedding in Colorado when he arrives tomorrow! I am beyond frustrated with this company. I have had no less than five conversations regarding the issue of mailing the items directly to the College. Thank goodness I used another company and found many more patterns to choose from. Bottom line is that this company is a Waste of Your time and money.

yea id wait to buy stuff from the store
