Residence Hall Linens Company

Hi. We received the mail piece from RHL regarding bedspreads, linens, etc. Can anyone comment on the quality? It looks like a good deal. especially since the bedding is for the XL twins which is kind of hard to find. But, is the stuff nice or stiff and uncomfortable? Thanks so much for your input.
I'm especially wondering about the bedspread and sheets.

There’s a thread about this in the Parents’ Forum. Consensus is that the quality is ok, but you could do just as well or better by going to Target or ordering online.

Half my friends just had this one bed set you can buy at Target. They sell XL twin sets, and they seemed to have thousands of them out there in anticipation for new students.

XL twins are not hard to find. Basically anything is cheaper than anything run by the university.

The linens from that mailing are pretty lousy. Do yourself a favor and go to Target or Bed Bath and Beyond for your bedding. Both are near the school so you can wait until arriving in St. Louis to buy them.

Thanks. The prices are really cheap so that’s probably why. Maybe I just hit two stores that didn’t carry the XL twins and thought it would be a problem. I’ll go to Target as originally planned.

They’re awful quality, don’t buy them. I replaced mine after a month.

^hehehe

but honestly, I wouldn’t trade my jersey knit sheets from target for anything. they’re amazing.

complete rip off

Last year (2010-2011) we ordered the Big (but not the Biggest) package from this place to send with Daughter to school. Horrible stuff! Hopefully you’ve changed things. Towels are so cheezy, I ended up keeping those at home to dry off the dog, and bought another set from Target to send with my daughter for school. Comforter was so thin and awful, awful, awful, I ordered one sent directly from Lands End to her. She made due with the sheet (XL, but too wide for her mattress in the dorm, even though the size was “guaranteed.”) REALLY disappointing. Don’t buy this stuff, please!

At this point i would do anything that makes life more easy.

After going through all of the nearly endless parade of tasks to take care of and supplies to buy my S#2 pretty much refused to look at anything else if it involved anything that was remotely related to shopping. Since we got a package deal from rhl for son#1 and he had no complaints, we went with them again for number 2. It really can’t be easier, they have the combination packs that have all of the stuff that he will need for his bedding along with towels. Maybe it is because boys are easier about stuff like this, but it worked fine for us the first time. The boys are hard on everything-clothes, towels, furniture, so for us to deal with buying some new stuff each year or so, it is not surprising.

I just purchased XL bedding at Target for my son. Very inexpensive.

When shopping at target-i thought it was expensive. Unless something was on sale there were places where you could get it cheaper. I still say going with the res.hall linens is a good idea. If you have some trouble like other posters did, then you can always send them back for an exchange. Why keep bedding if it doesn’t fit? especially if it is guaranteed to?

I have bought from target before, but for a cheaper deal, it is not where i would go.

We ordered one of the value packs. I didn’t think it was that inexpensive. I know I could have found the items for less at Target or BB&B. However, I was lured in by the ease of ordering and having everything match. Don’t order this stuff! I opened the packages and the sheets really do feel like sandpaper. I tried washing them with fabric softener. When I took them out of the dryer the amount of pilling that came off of the towels and sheets was ridiculous. Also, the threads along the edges of the sheets are already coming undone. For the guaranteed refund, you still have to pay to ship them back to the company. The only items we got that seemed to be okay are the hamper and the upgraded memory foam egg crate pad. I really wish I would have found this website before I wasted my money.
