<p>Does UMICH take into consideration what major you are attending for when they assign your residene hall? I am going into pre-medicine and I would hate to be stuck in Bursly or Baits, which would be an insane distance away from my classes. Is there any way to specifically request a residence hall other than the general Central/Hill or Bursly/Baits options?</p>
<p>Not really. They draw a lottery, and then you are assigned by preference within and according to your lottery number. A good number of students end up on north campus, and it’s not fatal 
That said, if you’re determined to control your location, you can take a look at some of the community living groups (eg. Alice Lloyd for artsy stuff and also I think a health-related group; etc.) When you apply to one of the “community living” groups and are accepted, you then automatically are placed in that residence hall. Same with honors. Hope that helps.
