Residence Halls at W&M

Dupont is definitely the nicest, followed by Yates as long as you don't get a basement room. Barrett is old and pretty, and a decent location right on the edge of both old and new campus. You may very well encounter a few roaches no matter where you live, but the Botetourt dorms seem to get more than their share of both roaches and ants. In all honesty, the Botetourt Complex should probably be condemned... there's a reason they don't bring the tours through there.

Actually, I'm living in Botetourt right now and I haven't had any bug problems, it sucks living here but yeah no bug problems at least. I think Taliafero has been exterminated like 3 times now.

of the freshman dorms i think barrett is the nicest, but dupont has the suite style living...

I'm a transfer admit as well... Is it possible for me to get into an on campus apt? Or is that mostly reserved for continuing students? Can anyone rank the best upper classman housing complexes? Thanks so much :)

I forgot to ask about Reves as well, the Int'l focused house... any info on that?

I think you have to be an International Student to live in Reves, but I'm not 100% sure on that one.

barret is awesome

I don't know what the deal is with transfer housing. You will probably not be able to get anything in Randolph, but maybe in Ludwell? All of the upperclass buildings are pretty nice. Bryan complex is good. The new dorm, Jamestown, which is just one year old, is very nice.

Reves is for students interested in international relations/affairs/issues. You do not have to be an international student to live there.

if you get called off the waitlist...what housing will you end up with?

I do know they reserve some housing spots specifically for incoming transfers - but it may depend on what year you are entering in as (sophomore, junior, etc.) on whether or not you get first dibs. I say this b/c I entered in as a junior and was told before hand that due to my year, they were not "obligated" to house me. However, I was also told that the housing committee works hard over the summer to find housing for transfers (regardless of year). Though conflicting, I never inquired further b/c I received a housing offer rather quickly. I credit this from applying online for housing immediately after receiving my welcome packet in the mail. My suggestion: apply toot-sweet!

waitlist students are usually notified before residence assignements go out
