Residence Halls Feedback

Hi everyone,

I will be an upcoming Spring transfer in 2016, and I realize that the only information feedback regarding residence dorms/halls is from tumblr which is pretty great but centered mostly around freshman.

Could anybody give feedback about the dorms available for transfers, and also personal reviews/hearsays about each dorm? It would be really appreciated!

Ideally, I’m hoping for a good-sized dorm to share with a room mate, a building near to school - i’ll be taking political science, somewhere with food and preferably good toilets.

Thanks guys!

The dorms available for transfers change from year to year, so there isn’t much we can tell you now. Nothing’s that far from campus or food. Where they place you will also probably depend on your semester standing.

This might provide some info until you get official info: http://www.brown.edu/Student_Services/Residential_Council/lottery/rooms/index.php

@bruno14 Thank you! I didn’t know that, actually. I thought we just had to fill up the regular housing form! I’ll be a Year 2 Semester 2!

@iwannabe_Brown Thanks so much, i’ll give it a read!

If you search the blog you originally linked to, you’ll find they did a similar series on sophomore housing. Just look up “sophomore housing” and scroll a bit; it’ll be there.

Not that this is still relevant, but many years ago, I left Brown for a year in Y2, S2. My roommate was assigned a new transfer roommate to our room in Wayland. The new/transfer roommate became a very good friend of my original roommate, and a fried of mine when I got back. I still think that people coming in Semester 2 go into whatever rooms are available based on attrition, time off, semester abroad, etc. Whether there is a formal lottery, I don’t know, but I’d be surprised if there is. I also agree that there really aren’t any dorms that are inconvenient as far as proximity to classes, food, etc.
