Can someone tell me about the residential colleges at Rutgers New Brunswick? I think its like Cook College, Douglass, University, and some other? Which one would a Mason Gross music student be living in, and which buildings are the best? Also, which buildings are better socially and are nearest to places?
Thanks

Hi. I am a part of the Douglass Residential College. I am not aware of any other residential campus on the whole campus. It's all-girls. You would live in either Lippincott, Katzenbach, Bunting-Cobb (for math/science girls. I think you have to apply to live here) and Jameson, if you are part of the honors program or global villages, which are pretty cool; look them up. I don't know where they are placing honors freshman next year, but I believe it is jameson. You might also get placed into other dorms ie new gibbons or some that are on cook; I'm not entirely sure.

Bunting-Cobb has its own computer lab and from what I hear, it's pretty sociable, considering everyone has the same academic interests.
Katzenbach is louud. The first floor is kind of dead this year and people keep to themselves. There's just a lot of girls living there, so it's hard to get to know everyone on your floor. But it is pretty sociable. But like always, it depends on how much effort you put in to make friends.

I live in Jameson. It's pretty amazing. The rooms are niice, way nicer than those in Katzenbach; I don't know about Bunting-Cobb. I love the location. It's the closest to the first bus stop on douglass and the last (so you get to college ave the quickest and get off the bus from college ave first). It's the closest to all three computer labs: library, douglass campus center, and loree. It's close to the cafe which takes meal swipes and is pretty nice when you are sick of dining hall food. it is pretty far from the dining hall but the walk is only 5-10 minute, and it's pretty nice and scenic to take with friends and on a nice day. Also, the extra exercise is always good.

But like I said, it depends on you.
And I don't think mason gross kids get their own housing. It's all integrated, regardless of the school you are associated with. But DRC kids have to live on douglass for their first year. And DRC offers 1,000 to 2,000 dollar scholarships, which is pretty nice. Apply early.
