Hi everyone,
I started college back in 2010 and transferred to SJSU in 2013 with a 2.7 GPA. During this time I had to move out of the city an hour away. Due to the school being over impacted I had to retake courses I had already taken. There ended up being a mishap with Financial Aid and I was dropped and re-added to those courses, only to fail them due to not being able to turn in coursework on Canvas during the time I was dropped. The next semester I was unable to apply to courses on time due to the Financial Aid mishap and again had to take courses I had taken at my community college. I was extremely frustrated, as I was taking freshmen courses, and with my home life being unstable, I ended up dropping out.
It’s now been 3 years and I really want to go back, but start anew. During my community college years I had put in minimal effort due to lack of motivation. I chose a major that my family wanted me to do and transferred to a college that was convenient. This time I want to do things right. I want to put in my full effort, transfer to a college I want to go to, and go to graduate school. Math and Science have always been extremely easy for me, so I know I can do this.
This summer I went to my old community college to see what I could do, but they said I had to go to SJSU to be officially dropped or something. I’ve gone multiple times to SJSU, but each time Admissions and Records tell me they have no idea what I’m talking about. I ask to talk to a counselor and they give me different emails. I’ve emailed all of these people, just to not get any response.
What can I do? Should I just start retaking courses at another community college? I know my transcript will always follow me, but I want to make my GPA the best it can be and do the career I feel is best for me.
Thank you,
Manuel
