Anyone know anything about career opportunites(besides whats on the usna webpage) for restricted line officers? I was granted a waiver that allows me to do restricted line after graduation from the academy and want to know what opportunities are available to me. Im interested in a medical career and I know thats an option depending on my class rank after graduation. Any info would be helpful thanks!

Forgive me, but this differs significantly from my day...

Back then, you only really had a chance at URL if you were female or if you were NPQ'd as a male. Everyone who went into USNA (with the exception of females) were expected to be in the track for Command at Sea.

With the advent of women joining the combat ranks, even that one exception fell away, so I'm confused as to why USNA would be granting waivers for URL while you are still in the application process.

Have I missed something?

Be aware, going to Medical School straight out of USNA is extremely difficult. It happens, but it's TOUGH.

There are a very very very (get the idea) few color blind waivers granted by special disposition of the Supt. alone, usually at the very end of the annual selection window. Color blinds have to go either restricted line or USMC. I think it has always been there but very low key.

Well, there it is: proof that you learn something new every day.

Thanks, Shipmate. :)
