<p>Nope! They shouldn’t…and no high school I know of does, but then again…idk about your high school</p>

<p>Yes. Ten was the maximum number of applications we could send out. I think more schools should do that to ensure that their students are only applying to schools they are serious about.</p>

<p>I think writing supplements and paying ~$100 is enough to be show that you’re serious…</p>

<p>The Common App’s limit is 20 schools, though you could apply to more through the school’s own form.</p>

<p>Some high schools mandate a limit. It’s to cure flitting students of the “I won’t decide anything right now” syndrome.</p>

<p>Frankly, I would absolutely prohibit my kids from applying to more that 7-8 schools. Period.</p>

<p>What if your kids paid for the additional apps? My dad just gives me a budget and any more I pay for. I think it is awful that schools try to intervene. Mine doesn’t.</p>

<p>I’m applying 15, so I don’t think there should be a limit. There can be legit reasons for applying to lots of schools</p>

<p>I’m applying to four. My school doesn’t intervene at all, and you practically have to beg to get the GC participating in the application process at all. Most of the graduates at my school go to work on their parent’s farms. Talk about Hickville…</p>

<p>And if you have “legit reasons” to want to apply to 20 schools, though I have no idea what those might be, you can talk to your school’s administration and ask for special consideration. For everyone else, 8-10 should be more than enough.</p>

<p>Many private schools have this policy. The official explanation usually has to do with fostering a relationship of trust between the school and the universities to which its students are applying.</p>

<p>I’ve never heard of this. Why would they limit it? It’s your money and time, since they only have to write one recommendation and just send it to all the schools.</p>
