Resume help?

Hi everyone!!

I’m currently putting together my high school resume and I don’t know what categories to put down? If anyone could please give an example of what their resume looks like/what categories they put on it, that’d be great!

Thanks!

  • what high school you attend, gpa, test scores, what classes you are taking or have taken that pertain to the internship or job you want to get (for example: AP Bio or Chem if you want to work in a lab)
  • extracurriculars: what sports/clubs/organizations you are involved in
  • volunteer work: self-explanatory
  • awards/accomplishments: what you have achieved in those extracurriculars
  • strengths: analytical thinker, good team member, etc
  • personal info: address, phone number, email
  • what languages you can speak

for extracurriculars, volunteer work, awards/accomplishments: list the dates on which you received an award, accomplished a certain thing AND list the dates in which you began and ended (if you haven’t, just say “Current”) participating in a club or volunteering at a place

look up resume formats and tips online. it will help immensely. you probably have a google drive account. there, search up resume templates, and you will find plenty nice ones to use.

good luck! i hope this helped

Another very important category is work experience if you have any

so im applying to garcia summer research program and if my transcript has all of my classes that I’ve taken, do i still need to put them (the science classes) on my resume as well?

What you need is proof that you can either succeed in research or science.

  • What you have done in your time outside of school
  • What classes you have taken in school and what you did along with results
  • A short written evaluation from your former classes involving either writing or science (if possible)
  • Proof of character and innovation

Give examples and rock solid evidence rather than just listing as much accomplishments as possible.
