Resume Supplement

Hey everyone, do you think its wise to send a resume to Brown’s admissions office? There were many things I wasn’t able to include on the common app. I know there are other threads out there about this, but I am just not sure whether they would appreciate the supplementary material.

A resume is really not likely to include things you did not put into the common ap and the essays that are of much significance! (Ie all those little awards that schools give, the other clubs and activities.) If there was something you felt was very important that was not on the “list” areas, I would hope you incorporated it into your essays. They really don’t want your additional lists of other things. Now, if you feel something really important got “overlooked” in all that, I would instead send something that demonstrates it’s value. Ex: an arts supplement, a letter from the person who supervised you all the years you worked, or volunteered for them. That sort of thing sometimes is not covered in the standard ap process and can be a valuable “addition”. (and should have been sent in at the standard time.) In general, the only things that should be added on are substantial new “news worthy” things. (For example athletes that set substantial new school records, awards or publications that are “way beyond the regular high school type”, etc. )

What is your opinion on science research abstracts of work that has been presented at National-level conferences? Is that “significant” enough?

I would see that as significant if it wasn’t mentioned on your application and has happened since then.

Yes, re National presentation. Just send something that shows that and is only one page or less (do not send the whole paper!) Could be the announcement, or if award, that info, (hopefully with your name featured somewhere) , with a brief cover paragraph by you to explain what it is and why sending.
