I scored a 2260 (690, 770, 800) on the SAT in May and when combined with my best scores from my 2230 (680, 790, 760) in March I now have a 2280. Should I even bother retaking it to get the Critical Reading up? I don't want schools to think I'm too focused on scores.

2280 is good enough. Your more likely to do worse. Don’t worry about retaking and now focus on the SATIIs and the other areas of your application.

it depends. I got a 2200 C with 710 CR 700 M 790 W (<–and i was like, wteff?). I’m retaking because I think i can def. do better on CR. I was scoring upper 700s on collegeboard practises and got an 80 on the PSAT CR. If my score distribution was more even, I probably wouldn’t be retaking.

So, if you think a higher score on CR is something that you can definitely achieve, then maybe you should retake it. If you think your skill set in that regard puts you in the upper 600s range, then you should be happy with your excellent composite score.

I’m not really confident that I would definitely improve. And if I was to retake them, it wouldn’t be until next year because I’ve already signed up for two subject tests (Math II and US History) in June. I’m leaning towards not taking them.

I would agree. consider yourself done and divert your attention to more important things.

I’d say if you truly think you can do better, then you should take it again. Honestly, doing well on the SAT is simply a matter of luck. Maybe the passages will be strangely easy for you next time.

So I’d say take it again; yes it’s boring to sit through, but there’s no harm. I wouldn’t advise studying for it though. Just get a good night’s sleep, and maybe take a practice test or two.
