Retake 2300?

Hello CCers,

I just checked my June SAT score online; I am glad that I superscored 2380(CR780, M800, W800), which is nice, but my highest single sitting is only 2300 (CR780, M760, W760). I'm planning to apply to Ivy leauge schools, and as some top schools including HYP request to send all scores, compartively low single sitting score has become quite a concern for me.

Do top schools "really" consider only the top scores, not looking other low single sitting scores...? Please help, and I promise I'll help you back! Thanks.

No… Now go away.

Well they look at all but honestly a 2300 is still above average (50th% of accepted students) at HYP and wouldnt hurt you. And they more strongly consider the superscore. I’d say you’re fine.

Remember that time you were a tool?

They superscore anyway. The top schools want smart kids that do interesting things on their Saturday mornings. If you spend another Saturday morning trying to improve upon your 2380, they will suspect you are a tool. Go spend that next SAT Saturday morning doing something you would be proud to write an essay about.

ditto with glido

Thank you so much guys! I heard that once an applicant get more than somewhat required scores (like 750+ in all sections), scores hardly matter; I had not been so sure about that. Just to make sure, even if I am an international applicant, is 2300 kinda acceptable score?

Jesus Christ…

Wow…wow.

This is really annoying me with people seriously asking if 2300 is good enough. Harvard accepts people with 1800 sometimes. There are so many other factors. People get denied with 2400. Anywhere about 2100 is fine!

I heard that top schools don’t superscore since admissions is competitive enough (though I may be wrong and it differs from school to school) and they don’t like it if you take the SAT too many times. 2300 is enough. Every school is going to consider a 2300 as long as if you have good grades, so just focus on extracurriculars.

Please go to a therapist.

^ LOL. Welcome to CC.
Put simply, no. A 2300/2380 is fine. You wont get rejected for not having a 2400. Your score is FINE! relax and go do something fun/interesting.

This. 10char

Ugh. Why even ask? Of course you should retake anything a 2390 or lower.
