Here's the situation: I took the May SAT II test for chemistry and got a 740. I have only taken an honors class in chem that barely glosses over the math. Next year, I will take AP Chem. So I know I can improve drastically from a 740 to hopefully an 800. Should I retake it this fall if I know I can improve this much? I'm looking to apply to some of the Ivy's, but I prefer not to look like a test obsessed student, as someone else said to me. That's my predicament.

It really depends on your intended major. If you’re looking into a major with a focus on chemistry, then yes, you will need to retake it to look impressive for that major in the Ivies. If you’re not going to major in something related to Chemistry, then really, don’t bother - taking it again for that perfect score may show your determination, but not if you even plan on majoring in chemistry.
