Retake an Already Subjectively Fine Score?

I got a 2170 in the June SAT (740 CR/680 M/750 W), which I was pretty happy with. However, I'm applying to colleges this summer, and I'm just honestly not sure if that score will cut it. I feel like the rest of my application will be pretty outstanding, with the exception of this score.

By the way, I'm applying to a couple of ivies (cornell, brown, harvard), boston u, penn state, wesleyan, william and mary.

So what do you guys think? Should I take a chance and not take the SATs again, or take another chance by taking the SATs again and maybe getting a lower score?

If you can do better (significantly…not just 10-50 points), then retake. If not, then don’t waste your time.

I think you shouldn’t retake it unless you’re confident you’ll score 2250+.

Basically what everyone else said… if you’re capable of doing better, why not?

^ I would retake it IF you’re confident about scoring the same or better on CR and W and think you could increase your math score. How much did you study the first time?

Study hard and retake

The math was actually what I focused on… and ironically they only jumped 20 points while my writing and reading jumped 30 and 60 points respectively. it was really weird.

Well Math, IMO is the easiest section overall and to improve on. All you need is knowledge of the concepts and the use of logic. So if you can bring the Math upto 750 and keep the others the same, I’d say definitely re-take. If you think your math is weak then I would advise against it as it would just be a waste of time.
