<p>Any need to retake the SATI? I'm applying ED to cornell. Here are my stats:</p>
<p>SATI: 1430 (740M, 690V)
SATII's: Math IIC - 800, Writing - 720, Physics - 760</p>

<p>I got 730 m&v, 780 phys, 770 math II and 700 writing (I took each once, and don't plan to retake any) and I'm applying RD to cornell. I really don't think scores matter much unless they're outside the median ranges. Your verbals sort of low, but given the 720 in writing I doubt that that'll have any effect on your admission.</p>

<p>At Cornell, in my copy of US News and World Report, the 75th percentile got a 1470, so a retake would be wise, as it could put over the middle 50% (you'd only need to answer about 5 questions more correctly). Of course, my copy is a year out of date. I'm applying to Cornell RD, my 1410 could be improved :D.</p>

<p>Retake...try and get close to or above the 75%ile on SAT scores. Work on the verbal.</p>

<p>Don't worry too much about math. With an 800 2C score, colleges will most likely not take your SAT I math as such a high determinant. However, your verbal is low so I would recommend retaking it to at least break 720 on verbal. Scoring higher on math wouldn't hurt either though.</p>

<p>You should strive to put your best foot forward. That means being towards the top end of the applicant pool (at or near the 75%ile), with excellent recommendations and essays. Although Cornell has a reputation of being the easiest of the Ivies to get into, they will be a little concerned about your verbal score (although not as much as some of the other schools in the conference), unless you have a great gpa and are in the top decile at your school.</p>
<p>That being said, if you are concerned, maybe taking the ACT might be better, as some of my friends said it was easier because most of the stuff tested they had already taken or were taking. Most people, however, take the SAT I twice, so it cannot hurt. Just study more for the verbal score. At any top tier school (ie top 20) scores are not the whole picture. </p>
<p>I'm concerned about my stats too, although I am towards the published 75%ile. I know I'll get in at some of the schools on my list, but it is always a bit easier with better stats. Again, just my 2 cents.</p>
