retake SAT???

ok........i took the old sat I and my scores were:

maths:760 verbal:680

i plan to apply to mit, stanford, berkeley, ucla, upenn, gatech, illinois etc.

should i take the new SAT????

and if yes, for wat reason!!!!

btw........i hav not taken the sat II writing!

I would take it. An 800/790 in math would help (you can easily get it if you scored what you did on 2c) and a critical reading score in the 700's would help also. These schools probobly want to see some sort of writing score. But if you suck at writing and don't have time to prep, keep that score

yes, why wouldn't you?

um, yea. but your score is still fine to get your foot in. :D

remmeber, it's just a test.

at PENN, they want the new SAT + 2 SATs. I was just there last weekend.

is it necessary to send writing scores to colleges????????

anybody else got an opinion???

seriously people.............please give me ur opinions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thats wat we r all here for..........arnt we??????????

and thnx stix2400, atomic fusion, and amnesia for replying!!

sachit, you must take it. UC requires the new SAT, and the other schools require Writing, whether in SAT II form or SAT I form, and you do not have either. The private schools will let you mix and match your scores.

PS: Are you a prospective engineering major? I'm aiming for ME/EE

^^^^ ashernm ,

I may go for computer engineering or computer science. Dont know yet.
Where all are you applying???

I'm doing cornell ED (probably), then michigan, CMU (you should definitely apply here, their CS school is the best in CMU and rivals MIT's), Northwestern, UCLA, UCB maybe UCSD (instate), gatech, possibly UIUC. Also check out harvey mudd.

You don't have to retake the new SAT, but the thing is, most top-level colleges are looking for either an SAT II:Writing or the new SAT, so you're going to have to give them a writing score somehow

yes, ashernm is right, you definitely need a writing score, be it the old sat2 writing or in the new sat1, for the schools you are applying to. and take it, u still hav room for improvement anyways, the biggest downside of it in my opinion is to sit tehre for 4 hrs (if u count in some breaks n delays) taking the test...

c'mon people...........keep the replies coming in!!!!!!!

Take the New SAT, but make sure you prepare for it using the Xiggi Method.
