Retake standardized tests?

So I got my ACT today and I got a 32 (32.5) is this good enough for Yale or should I retake my 2050 SAT?

Look on their common data set, if they have one. If not, average SAT/ACT Information should be listed elsewhere on their site. You can compare your results directly to those of the latest incoming class.

Take everything everyone says on here with a grain of salt.

Thank you I’ll check it out! And I mean 32.25 not 32.5…

Without a hook for a realistic shot you should have a 34

34 is at about the 50th percentile. As half the class is not “hooked”, plenty of students below a 34 not only have a relaistic shot but are accepted.

Honestly, I think you should probably retake either the SAT or the ACT, unless you have some very strong qualifications (or a hook). At 32 is at the bottom of the middle 50% of ACT scores at Yale (according to College Board).

^ Agree. Many of the kids getting in with scores in the bottom of the 50th percentile (or lower) are talented URMS, recruited athletes, or development cases – in other words, hooked. If you go to a strong high school and come from a family and community where you’ve had plenty of opportunities to achieve, it’s going to be tough to get into Yale with less than a 34.

^well I’m taking the sat on saturday but it’s my last standardized test… I’m happy with my 32 and I don’t think going up one or two more points will help me much. I unfortunately come from a rural area with a not so great school surrounded by much poverty. All my recommendations have mentioned how I have taken advantage of everything my school can offer and that I have given back so much to my school… At this point, I’m just gonna put my app together and hope for the best
