Yale is my dream school, but I feel like my ACT score of 32 (33 E/29 M/35 R/31 S/10 W) is on the low side. I've looked at the results threads here and to see a 36 rejected is discouraging. It was my first time taking the ACT and I know I have the potential to score better, especially in math, but the time restraint really hurts me. Would getting a point or two higher increase my chances enough to make it worthwhile?

I have an "academic unweighted GPA" of 4.4356, ranked 1/220 in my class. Will my GPA compensate for an average standardized test score?

If you download the latest Common Data Set, and go to C9 data, you will see that a 32 ACT is right at Yale’s 25th percentile. That means that 75% of accepted students at Yale had a 32 ACT or higher score. Conversely, one quarter of admitted students had a 32 or lower. While your ACT score is within Yale’s range, if you had a higher score, an Admissions Director would be less likely to question that, if admitted, you could do the work. If you have the time, you might want to re-take the ACT again, or as Marinozai suggested try the SAT.
