Retake withdraw class?

I’m in my second semester freshman year and I recently withdrew from a history class (AMH 2010) and I’m conflicted on if I should retake it. I am majoring in bio and hope to apply to dental school, so it doesn’t count towards my major or as a prerequisite for dental school but I was hoping to get a minor in history. It is a 2000 level course and I’ve already taken higher level history courses. Should I retake the course? I was just having some personal problems during the class so it’s not like I found it difficult but will my withdrawal look negative when I want to apply for the minor, or even when dental schools are looking at my transcript and see that I didn’t retake it? To put my grades in perspective the first semester I got two F’s in my intro to chem and trig but am retaking the classes now and predicted to get A/B’s in them but now I have a W this semester in the history course.

Are you sure that Dental school is for you? I would think the F’s in Chem and Trig would indicate STEM is not your thing.

Well I’m passing now, if you read all the way to the end you would know that. It’s not that I find chem or trig hard, it’s that the transitioning period from home to school put me in a really bad place and I just didn’t try at all in those classes.

But I don’t see how your comment helps me decide if I should retake the class or not.

I do not think it would hurt you for Dental School. Do you need a history class at this level for a gen-ed or your minor? If so can you take a different one? I don’t think bopper was trying to be rude. It’s just why are you worrying about a history class when you want to go to dental school and have Fs in 2 STEM classes? I’m not sure how dental school works, but I know medical school ADCOMS calculate both grades if you retake a class.
