Retaking a class senior year

<p>I got a D for the second semester of English during freshman year, and I have myself scheduled to retake it during my second semester of senior year. My worry is that by the time I apply for a UC first semester next year, they will see that I still have not made up that D and will pay no attention to my application. So I'm wondering, even if I am going to retake the class and make up the grade, will the UC's still accept my application during their admissions period, even if my transcript will have a D?</p>
