Retaking ACT or taking the SAT?

Im a senior in HS and just been postponed to my top choice college. The college will make a decision by march 15. If I take the February ACT (to try and raise my score), which is the next one...how long will it take them to send my score? will it make it in time (at least a couple weeks before march 15)?

Also, I was thinking about taking the SAT for the first time. I dont really know much about it and it's breakdown. So I saw that the next SAT is on January 26. I know that I need to take the test for Math, critical reading and writing...When I sign up is that what I sign up for? because I know there is an SAT with no writing. Also, what are the subject tests for? and should I take them? will they be included in my overall score?

How close was your ACT score to the school's average/high range score? Did they tell you that you need to improve it?

Yes do take it if you feel it is necessary; follow the usual deferral guidelines.

The school is UW-Madison and I had a 27 and that is basically their average. I think I got deferred because my grades were a bit below their average. I was just thinking that maybe getting a better ACT score would somewhat cancel out the slightly lower grades. If I take it in February...will it make it to the school in time?
